New Medical Television Programme: Looking for People with Acne
7 February 2014
Optomen Television, the BAFTA award-winning producers of Mary Portas: Queen of Shops, Kevin McCloud’s Man Made Home and Heston Blumenthal’s Feast is producing a brand new TV medical series for Discovery’s TLC Channel and we need your help.
In this series, we’ll be exploring a variety of health conditions in the hope that we can raise awareness on them. We’re looking for people with acne to take part in the programme to discuss their condition and to explain to others what it is like to live with it on a daily basis. By doing this, we’re hoping to raise general awareness on the condition, its symptoms and the types of treatment/care that is currently available.
We’ll also be working with a number of specialists throughout this series and, for those who take part in the programme, we can offer a free (off-screen) consultation with one of them. So perhaps you’d like a second opinion or advice on the types of treatments/care that is available to you?

I’ve been told to blog. I have to confess I don’t know what to blog about, but after some reflection, I feel it is relevant for me to share my philosophy and insights with you regarding getting on in life. This, if you like is my thought for the week. I will do one, once a week about different aspects in life. At least I’ll try.
As you may be aware I do anti-discrimination regarding facial disfigurement and particularly for skin conditions.
Back in the 1980’s I lived in Suffolk. While there I took an interest in Amnesty International and attended one of their meetings. The actor Paul Eddington of “The Good Life” and “Yes Minister” fame co-hosted the event to promote the Cause. At the time he suffered badly with his skin cancer and was under potent medication and was openly in pain, although he did his best to hide it. A remarkable person who had a fascinating life history. When he was interviewed on Parkinson, Paul was asked what he wanted on his tombstone. He replied simply “Harmless”. This thought he shared was a poignant moment in my life. Paul then talked about the Quaker background that he came from and how it influenced his life.
As I journey through life, I’ve made attempts to live a harmless life. It is not my wish to harm others, and after tasting the harm others have put in my direction, I know I don’t wish to retaliate those who are doing it to me. It is my preference to walk away from the situation until the other person realise their error, and then make good the relationship again. It is not an easy thing to do, but at least it is a harmless act. I’m not reacting to a negative situation by reinforcing the negativity.
This is one of my ways of living I do my best to practise. What are your thoughts about this?

Bullying in 10 Downing Street
22 February 2010
As you know, I offer free online emotional support. I want to re-assure you that all communications made to me by you is confidential. It will not reach the public domain in any shape or form after you share your experiences with me.
Also, there are occasions where mediation is required due to intolerant acts taking place in your workplace, college and/or school etc. I already feel these services are required informally via support services. I am prepared to offer that service. Communication is key to a successful resolution in any situation where your life-path is being hindered by others.
Additionally, I have an anti-spam policy. Spamming has worked against the reputation of genuine support services based in the skin condition sector. I will ONLY contact you when there is essential information to message and not before.
In some ways it's been positive that this news story has reached the public domain. It has given us a rare opportunity to debate Bullying in the public arena, although on the downside, as an individual matter, for the client, who turned to the support services for help, find themselves in an impossible position in the workplace. I hope for the client's sake an amicable solution is found in their situation.
